(STAGE)
In May 1970 at the age of four he made his stage debut at Kokuritsu-gekijo (The National Theater of Japan) under his real name Nakamura Koji. He was a kabuki lover child and extremely happy on the stage. He was a noted child actor, remembered excellent performance of the part of "Sankichi" in "Shigenoi no
kowakare".
In April 1980 he succeeded to the name of Nakamura Hashinosuke V at the performance in memory of Nakamura Utaemon X (Hashinosuke's great-grandfather), and he played "Ishikawa Ginpachi" in "Hototogisu kojo no rakugetsu", "Tezuka Taro" in "Onna shibaraku", "Shuron" in "Renjishi" at this
performance. After that he did not go on to senior high school, and he concentrated on kabuki.
In 1986 at the age of twenty-one he played "Taira no Tomomori" in "Yoshitsune senbonzakura" figuratively speaking which is counted one of the graduation theses of "tachiyaku" (male roles in kabuki) superbly, and he proved to be an actor of real caliber. Since then he challenged important roles one after another, like "Benkei" in
"Kanjincho", "Gorozo" in "Gosho no Gorozo", "Sogoro" in "Sakanaya Sogoro" and so forth, and he has broadened his characters.
